Thrust-I: Promotion organic Agriculture & Horticulture for Sustainable Livelihoods for Food Security.
- Campaign Land Patta given to all the landless ( both absolute landless & landless) to get minimum of five acres of land for their livelihoods, and now they are able to cultivate the land as a means of their livelihood.Land pattas issued in the name of both husband & wife.
- Conducted soil and seed testing to find which new variety of fruit plants suits the soil and climate of the district.
- Developed Seed banks to preserve traditional variety of seeds and multiplied those for all different farmers need.Replacing short term new variety of seeds in drought spell time.
- Conducted training for farmers on the “low cost integrated farming/ bio farming/ natural farming methods for sustainable livelihoods” with handholding practices by developing their own know-how and do-how labs as a satellite experiment and as a model to begin with to regenerate their own traditional seeds, local manure and herbal pesticides available at their own locality with backward and forward linkages.
- Reintroduced inter-cropping & mix farming of cereals, pulses and vegetables with promotion of Organic vegetables.
- Established an Agro-info Centre at Kosagumuda block with information , different experiments on traditional farming practices as the people’s lab where people came and learn different demonstrations, learn about different possibilities related to local seeds vrs high yield variety, plant species, herbs, spices, cereals, pulses, fruits, root crops, vegetables, farm implements and herbal pesticides including organic and natural farming technologies for integrated and sustainable agriculture etc.
- Establishedmicro food processing and marketing units to support the women from vulnerable households.
Thrust-II: Promoting livestock for the livelihoods of Vulnerable:
- Provided improved variety of Country chicken (Giri Raj, banaraj, latest developed species), Goats, bullocks and Cows to the identified vulnerable and land less households as the source of alternate livelihoods.
- Enhanced the scope of the Milk producer society to support to single women and women headed households for dairy farming.
- Trained one village volunteer from 60 villagesworking as GOMITRA ( barefoot livestock guide).
- Organised regular vaccination program in the area, preventing the livestock not affected by different diseases.
- Created mass awareness among people on their safe livestock management
Thrust-III: Vocational Skill Promotion of Youth , increasing local Employability and checking distress migration:
- Vocational skills: Sponsored youths (both male & female), mostly MIGRATION returns for different Vocational courses under Skill India Mission , those who are trained and locally engaged both in wage and self-employment. The courses should be offered as per their education and having scope of self-employment in the locality. Youths after training started micro enterprises locally supporting the demand for Skilled labour and micro production units.
- Provided suitable skill and linked with land and forest-based Income Generation Activities for the vulnerable young population.
- Building the skill of identified Youths in agriculture, horticulture, allied sectors, masonry, electrification, plumbing, brick making, construction of houses including managing small building contracts helping the poor in the construction of government assisted buildings and small self-employment programs based on the local resources and local needs.
