The tribal dominating district of Nabarangpur has a relatively low literate population. The district holds total literates 490156 (Male 298688 and Female 191468). Many educational Institutes are serving in the district of Nabarangpur. The district has one Technical Institute i.e Women’s I.T.I at Umerkote. Govt. Secondary Training School, Nabarangpur and Govt. Secondary Training School, Umerkote are the professional Training Colleges running in the District. Jabahar Navadaya Vidyalaya, Khatiguda is the Central Government run special School also serving the Educational requirement of the District.
Ensuring Quality Education:
Parents Teacher Association (PTAs) were oriented on the needs and importance of Quality Education. In order to ensure the quality at the primary education level all the members motivated to look in to this matter seriously and encouraged to monitor regularly. It has been observed that all the PTAs are organizing bi monthly meeting of the parents’ teachers association in all the villages of its area of operation in order to promote and ensure quality education at the primary level.
Life Skill Education to Women:
Democratic Action has gained very good experience in working with women, that it is not be realistic to foresee development without empowerment of the women. Considering their vulnerability of exploitation and deprivation functional literacy programme were organized for women of these areas.
Initiative for Inclusive Education for the CWSN:
Obviously it is praiseworthy that teachers are regularly given training on quality education and comprehensive care of child with special need. DA has conducted motivation campaign in all the 20 villages to enroll all the CWSN in the local formal school. All the PTAs have a good consultation on this issue in order to ensure that no CWSN should left without admission.
